As parents, we all want our children to reach their development milestones on time. One of the ways to encourage speech development in children is to be sure you are always talking to them.

Here are some things to do:

• Talk to them in a positive upbeat tone
• Read to your children
• Let them explore books
• Let them hear you make different animal sounds as you read to them

The sooner you introduce them to reading and books the sooner they are going to have a love of reading and a love of language.
